    See me, feel me, touch me, heal me: working with affect, emotion, and creation of transformative energies as a feminist curatorial practice

    This research presents the gap contemporary curatorial discourses have in terms of feminist theory and work, as well as the gap principal contemporary discourses on feminisms and curating have in terms of discursive curatorial practices and independent curatorship. I argue, that the current discussions on feminisms and curating are narrowed down by governing art historical approaches, in which focus remains on representation instead of curatorial practice. Focusing primarily on exhibitions presenting art by feminist and/or women artists, the critique remains in the ways exhibitions are framed in terms of art historical narratives within museum institutions. The paradigm of feminist curating needs to be shifted to the realm of the curatorial, in order to extend the discussion to discursive feminist curatorial practices and the actual potential of feminist curatorial work with art. Within the curatorial, curating is seen beyond exhibition-making as a discursive practice with art, artists, spaces and audiences. Drawing from curatorial theory, affect theory, and feminist new materialist theory, I present a model for a feminist curatorial practice based on a process of thinking with art, and aiming at creating transformative energies through affective encounters with artworks. The practice relies on the political potential of affect, and engages the notion of affective transformation as an essential part of feminist work with contemporary art. Curating is discussed in relation to independent curatorhip, with reflection on my own practice. I analyse current discourses in the fields of contemporary curating, and curating and feminist thought, and present current views on feminist affect and new materialist theory. I discuss the topics through reflection on selected artistic and curatorial practices, exhibition projects, and two group exhibitions I have curated during the research process

    Phenomenology of relaxion-Higgs mixing

    We show that the relaxion generically stops its rolling at a point that breaks CP leading to relaxion-Higgs mixing. This opens the door to a variety of observational probes since the possible relaxion mass spans a broad range from sub-eV to the GeV scale. We derive constraints from current experiments (fifth force, astrophysical and cosmological probes, beam dump, flavour, LEP and LHC) and present projections from future experiments such as NA62, SHiP and PIXIE. We find that a large region of the parameter space is already under the experimental scrutiny. All the experimental constraints we derive are equally applicable for general Higgs portal models. In addition, we show that simple multiaxion (clockwork) UV completions suffer from a mild fine tuning problem, which increases with the number of sites.     A case study of Oulu University’s teacher students’ understanding of inclusive education and their sense of self-efficacy to implement inclusive education in their future work

    Abstract. Inclusive education has been a prevalent value in Finnish educational context since the 1990s. However, teacher education has not sufficiently adapted to the policy changes regarding inclusive education in schools. Previous research shows that teacher students feel that their education has not given them sufficient competence to implement inclusive education. Additionally, in order to implement inclusive education successfully, inclusive education must be understood as a right of every student to quality education. Firstly, the purpose of this research is to examine and describe how master’s level classroom and special education teacher students understand the concept of inclusive education. Secondly, the research aims to gain an in-depth understanding of teacher students’ sense of self-efficacy to implement inclusive education in their future work. Lastly, we examine how teacher education has developed the teacher students’ sense of self-efficacy. The theoretical framework of our research considers inclusive education as a concept, different approaches to the implementation of it and its state particularly in the Finnish context. Additionally, we will discuss sense of self-efficacy especially according to Bandura. The research is a qualitative case study situated at the University of Oulu. The data was collected through an anonymous online questionnaire. The chosen analysis method is qualitative content analysis. The research findings reveal that overall teacher students understand inclusive education to consider all students and reflect values of equality and participation. However, some define inclusive education through the concept of integration. Special education teacher students’ self- efficacy was found higher than that of the classroom teacher students. Practicality of the studies and discussions were found most meaningful for the strengthening of their sense of self-effi- cacy. Additionally, special education teacher students are more satisfied with their studies regarding inclusive education. The research highlights that inclusive education must be considered more in teacher education.Tapaustutkimus Oulun yliopiston opettajaopiskelijoiden ymmärryksestä inklusiivisesta koulu- tuksesta ja heidän minäpystyvyydestään toteuttaa inklusiivista koulutusta tulevassa työssään. Tiivistelmä. Inklusiivisuus on ollut keskeinen arvo suomalaisessa koulutuksessa 1990-luvulta lähtien. Siitä huolimatta opettajakoulutus ei ole riittävästi mukautunut linjauksiin, joita on tehty inklusiiviseen koulutukseen liittyen kouluissa. Aiempi tutkimus osoittaa, että opettajaopiskelijat kokevat, ettei heidän koulutuksensa ole tukenut tarpeeksi minäpystyvyyden tunnetta inklusiivisen koulutuksen toteuttamiseen. Lisäksi, jotta inklusiivista koulutusta voidaan toteuttaa onnistuneesti, ymmärryksen siitä tulee painottaa jokaisen oppilaan oikeutta laadukkaaseen opetukseen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ensinnäkin tutkia ja kuvailla, kuinka maisterivaiheen luokanopettaja- ja erityisopettajaopiskelijat ymmärtävät inklusiivisen koulutuksen. Lisäksi tutkimuksen tavoitteena on luoda kattava käsitys opettajaopiskelijoiden minäpystyvyydestä toteuttaa inklusiivista koulutusta tulevassa työssään. Lopuksi tarkastelemme, kuinka opettajakoulutus on vaikuttanut opiskelijoiden minäpystyvyyteen. Tutkimuksemme teoreettinen viitekehys tarkastelee inklusiivisen koulutuksen käsitettä, erilaisia lähestymistapoja sen toteutukseen sekä sen tilaa erityisesti suomalaisessa kontekstissa. Lisäksi käsitelemme minäpystyyden käsitettä etenkin Banduran teorian mukaan. Tutkimus on kvalitatiivinen tapaustutkimus Oulun yliopistossa. Aineisto kerättiin anonyymin verkkokyselyn kautta. Analyysimetodina on käytetty laadullista sisällönanalyysia. Tutkimustuloksemme osoittavat, että yleisesti opettajaopiskelijat ymmärtävät inklusiivisen koulutuksen koskevan kaikkia oppilaita ja ymmärrys seuraa tasa-arvon ja osallisuuden arvoja. Kuitenkin jotkut opettajaopiskelijat määrittelevät inklusiivisen koulutuksen integraation käsitteen kautta. Erityisopettajaopiskelijoiden minäpystyvyys havaittiin tutkimuksessamme vahvemmaksi kuin luokanopettajaopiskelijoiden. Käytännönläheisyys ja keskustelut koettiin merkittävimmiksi osa-alueiksi minäpystyvyyden vahvistamiseksi. Lisäksi tutkimus osoittaa, että erityisopettajaopiskelijat ovat tyytyväisempiä opintoihinsa inklusiivisesta koulutuksesta.     A Fair Share - Burden-Sharing Preferences in the United States and China

    Using a choice experiment, we investigated preferences for distributing the economic burden of decreasing CO2 emissions in the two largest CO2-emitting countries: the United States and China. We asked respondents about their preferences for four burden-sharing rules to reduce CO2 emissions according to their country's 1) historical emissions, 2) income level, 3) equal right to emit per person, and 4) current emissions. We found that U.S. respondents preferred the rule based on current emissions, while the equal right to emit rule was clearly least preferred. The Chinese respondents, on the other hand, preferred the historical rule, while the current emissions rule was the least preferred. Respondents overall favored the rule that was least costly for their country. These marked differences may explain the difficulties countries face in agreeing how to share costs, presenting a tough hurdle to overcome in future negotiations. We also found that the strength of the preferences was much stronger in China, suggesting that how mitigation costs are shared across countries is more important there.Climate, burden-sharing, fairness, China, United States

    Motivasi kerja adalah keadaan dalam pribadi seseorang yang mendorong, menggerakkan dan mengarahkan keingiinan individu untuk melakukan kegiatan-kegiatan tertentu yang berhubungan dengan lingkungan kerja sehingga melakukan pekerjaan sebaik mungkin guna mencapai suatu tujuan. Seorang karyawan yang bekerja di sebuah perusahaan harus mendapatkan jaminan finansial, kesempatan untuk berkembang, lingkungan kerja, jaminan sosial yang sesuai dengan pekerjaannya, hubungan yang baik dengan rekan kerja sehingga dapat meningkatkan motivasi karyawan dalam bekerja. Berdasarkan fakta yang ada sekarang menunjukkan tidak semua karyawan memiliki motivasi kerja yang tinggi sesuai harapan perusahaan. Masih banyak terdapat beberapa karyawan yang memiliki motivasi kerja yang rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan kepuasan kerja dengan motivasi kerja karyawan PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta. Hipotesis yang diajukan yaitu ada hubungan positif antara kepuasan kerja dengan motivasi kerja karaywan PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quota sampling, sebanyak 60 orang. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan alat ukur skala motivasi kerja dan skala kepuasan kerja. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data menggunakan SPSS 15.0 menggunakan teknik korelasi product moment dari Pearson, diperoleh nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,523 dengan signifikasi = 0,000 ; (p < 0,01) artinya ada hubungan positif yang sangat signifikan antara kepuasan kerja dengan motivasi kerja pada karyawan. Variabel motivasi kerja mempunyai rerata empirik (RE) sebesar 87,75 dan rerata hipotetik (RH) sebesar 72,5 yang berarti motivasi kerja pada subjek penelitian tergolong tinggi (positif). variabel konsep diri mempunyai rerata empirik (RE) sebesar 87,75 dan rerata hipotetik (RH) sebesar 72,5 yang berarti kepuasan kerja pada subjek penelitian tergolong tinggi (positif). Sumbangan efektif dari kedua variabel ditujukan oleh nilai R^2 = 0,273 yang menunjukan bahwa variabel kepuasan kerja mempengaruhi variabel motivasi kerja sebesar 27,3% dan 72,7 % sisanya dipengaruhi faktor lainnya diluar variabel kepuasan kerja.     Analisa Pengaruh Physical Environment Terhadap Minat Beli Konsumen Di Kafe-kafe Di Surabaya

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh physical environment terhadap minat beli konsumen di kafe-kafe di Surabaya. Peneliti menggunakan kuesioner sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa facilities aesthetic dan table settings berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan terhadap minat beli konsumen, sedangkan ambience, lighting, layout dan service staff berpengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan. Hasil penelitian didapatkan facilities aesthetic sebagai faktor paling dominan mempengaruhi minat beli konsumen. This research aims to find out the impact of physical environment on customer purchase intention at cafe-cafe at Surabaya. This study are using a questionnaire as a data collection tools. The results show that facilities aesthetics and table settings have positive and significant effect on customer purchase intention while ambience, lighting, layout, and service staff have positive effect but not significant. The results of this research show that facilities aesthetics is the most dominant factor on influencing customer purchase intention

    This research suggests an analysis of the reasonableness of the price of the stock using fundamental anlysis with approach of Price Earning Ratio (PER) as the basis for making investment decisions an investor. Fundamental's factors that affect stock prices quoted will affect investment decisions an investor. Increasingly of sectoral stock's price index is the reason of this research using population in the form of shares of the Consumer Goods Industry Sector listing on the Indonesian's Stock Exchange for the period 2012-2015. This research analyzed the two companies in the sample, namely PT Merck Indonesia Tbk and PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk, which is obtained by applying a purposive sampling techniques. One of techniques criteria are reporting fundamental factors such as the company's ROE, EPS, DPS, DPR, PER, Close Price. Stock price reasonableness analysis is done by comparing the intrinsic value of a stock with a market value (close price). Intrinsic value is the real value of a company's stock. The results of this research indicate that both shares of PT Merck Indonesia Tbk and PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk has Correctly valued condition, which means shares in fair condition due to an intrinsic value equal to its market value. The right investment decisions are holding a stock, noting that investigators should consider factors such as the company's internal and external considerations investment decision

    An Efficient Group Key Management Using Code for Key Calculation for Simultaneous Join/Leave: CKCS

    This paper presents an efficient group key management protocol, CKCS (Code for Key Calculation in Simultaneous join/leave) for simultaneous join/leave in secure multicast. This protocol is based on logical key hierarchy. In this protocol, when new members join the group simultaneously, server sends only the group key for those new members. Then, current members and new members calculate the necessary keys by node codes and one-way hash function. A node code is a random number which is assigned to each key to help users calculate the necessary keys. Again, at leave, the server just sends the new group key to remaining members. The results show that CKCS reduces computational and communication overhead, and also message size in simultaneous join/leave.Comment: 18 pages, 16 figures, 4 table
